Vānara

Vānara is inspired by the strut carving of temples from Malla epoch. It tries to capture the dancing and joyous spirit of figures carved to adorn the temples during the medieval era. Vānara is sculpted to understand and resonate with the canonical gestures and stance of the deity Hanumāna in his ecstatic demeanour.

The sculpture explores the technique of papier mâché with sand to give it a marble like finish. It reintroduces the flavours of traditional figurative sculptures in a new composed medium.
