Varuna
Concept and curatorial note for the creation of varuna.
Varuṇa flows up and down, the most accepting entity, and seamlessly oscillates between the states of being in and out. It transcends its element of nature but is a refuge to many creatures that are deeply reflected in our culture. Rooted in a blend of traditional iconography and imaginative realms, the artworks are a testament to the artist's visual interpretations and intimate connection with the symbolism of water. The presence of water adheres to the calmness and interacts personally in the artist’s artwork.
Váruṇa is the god of water and primarily represents water itself. It is the interplay of inner and outer realms, realms that are fluid, which the artist resonates with the utmost care and sensitivity in the artwork. While understanding the nature of the water, it is formless yet it embraces all the forms within it. The water connects the earth and the sky which creates the balance and that is an affirmation from nature. It is embodied in the artwork. The ripples, the flow, and the serenity echo not only in the physical realm but also in the corridors of the artist’s mind.
Through the form of fluid, a tactile entity, Maharjan’s artworks evoke a profound sense of renewal, affirmation, and an unwavering journey of continuation. These artworks are a journey of thriving together in every form that is compassionate as the Váruṇa.
