Nritya Varuna

Inspired by the strut composition of the tiered temples of Nepal Nritya Varuṇa is designed in three sections. In the middle of the composition, the water deity Varuṇa in its figurative form dance gracefully like the rain descending to earth from the sky. The figure of Varuṇa holds a foliage motif that iconographically represents clouds and their movements. An animal form of water is perched on top of the cloud motif. Varuṇa dances on top of the symbolic Makara representing its blend and transformation to become ground-water and then flow underneath and over the earth surface.
